Description
This guide post, located east of the road junction northeast of Bolton village, was likely made in the late 19th century by Alnwick Foundry. It is constructed from cast iron, with a grey-painted shaft and black arms on a white background. The post features a circular shaft with a moulded head and a finial. The arms, which have clipped corners, are bolted onto the head of the shaft and display the following directions: BOLTON 1/3 GLANTON 2¾; BOLTON MILL 1 ABBERWICK 1¾; TITLINGTON 1; EAST BOLTON 2. The overall height of the guide post is 2.5 metres.
