Description
The Heppel headstone and its neighbor, located approximately 5 meters southeast of St. Andrew's Church, date from the mid-18th century and are made of sandstone. The southern headstone features a scrolled top with a sunk panel that includes a winged hourglass beneath a death's head. It bears the inscription for William Heppel, who died in 1738, and his mother Elisabeth, who died in 1739 at the age of 99. The reverse side is adorned with Ionic pilasters flanking the panel and a cherub above crossbones. The northern headstone has a shallow gabled top and a cherub, but its inscription is largely buried. Its reverse side features a sunken panel decorated with a swag holding bones and a skull.
