Description
The Blue Bell Hotel is a hotel located in Belford Market Place, dating from the early to late 18th century. It features a brick facade in Flemish bond, with an ashlar plinth and quoins, while the rest of the building is constructed from random rubble. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has a double span design. The hotel is two storeys high with nine bays.
The central doorway is framed by a wooden porch with a pediment supported by four Tuscan columns. The entrance consists of a two-leaf, six-panel door with an overlight featuring radial glazing bars and eight-pane sidelights. On the ground floor, there are twelve-pane sash windows set in architraves, while the first floor has six-pane sash windows in architraves. One window on the ground floor to the left is blocked. The roof is steeply pitched with a renewed ridge and end stacks. The rear span has a steeper pitch and irregular window arrangement, primarily consisting of twelve-pane sashes, along with a larger fifteen-pane stair window. There is a projecting wing at the rear on the right side, which now serves as the ballroom.
