Description

The wall with attached outbuildings located at the rear of numbers 1 to 25 on Shaftoe Terrace in Haydon Bridge dates from around 1805, while the outbuildings are mostly from the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings. The tall embattled wall features shallow projections on its north face, along with bands and recessed panels that have square or pointed heads. On the south face, there are various small privies and outbuildings, including a shed situated 12 metres northwest of the former Warden's house (No. 13). The front wall includes a semicircular window with intersecting glazing bars, and the right return wall has a cut-down boarded door that features a similar applied pattern.
