Description

Esp Hill Farmhouse is a house dated 1824, as indicated on the front door lintel. It is constructed of squared stone with tooled and margined quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof. The right gable features a stepped ashlar stack, while the left gable has a rebuilt brick stack. The building has two storeys and is designed with a central 8-panelled door that includes an oblong fanlight and alternating jambs. All windows are 16-pane sashes, also with alternating jambs and slightly projecting sills.

To the right, there is a single-storey, one-bay wing with a hipped roof and a blind window, which is set back from the main structure. The two-storey wing to the left is also set back and features a coped gable and a stepped stone stack, along with a modern glazed porch and a 16-pane sash window with a slightly projecting sill above it.

On the rear elevation, there is a central door beneath a 20th-century porch, flanked by 16-pane sash windows. The first floor has a round-headed stair window with radial glazing bars, also flanked by 16-pane sashes, all featuring alternating jambs and slightly projecting sills. The right wing is slightly set back and includes a ground floor casement and a blocked door, with a late 19th-century 8-pane sash window on the first floor and a 20th-century porch to the right.
