Description

The former vicarage, located to the east of the parish church in Haydon, was originally built in 1820 and extended in the mid-19th century. Constructed of squared stone with tooled ashlar dressings, it features a hipped slate roof and rebuilt brick stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, incorporating a mid-19th century addition within the re-entrant angle. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The design includes a plinth, flat pilasters at the corners which carry a heavy moulded eaves cornice. A central recessed half-glazed door is topped by a fanlight and flanked by attached Tuscan columns supporting an entablature. The windows are 12-pane sashes with slightly projecting sills. The right return has three symmetrical windows, with the central windows being blind and fitted with 12-pane sashes. The rear elevation features a round-headed stair window with radial glazing.
