Description
The Congregational Chapel, dated 1863, is located on the east side of North Bank in Haydon Bridge. It is built from squared stone with rusticated quoins and features a slate roof adorned with an ornamental ridge. The chapel has coped gables with moulded kneelers and consists of one tall storey.
The central entrance consists of panelled doors set beneath a pointed arch with a hoodmould, flanked by 12-pane sash windows also under pointed arches with hoodmoulds. The gable features a pediment that holds a small sunk quatrefoil and a raised tablet inscribed with 'CONGREGATIONAL CHAPEL' along with the date.
On the left side, there are three windows with pointed arches and rusticated surrounds. A lower addition to the left includes a 12-pane sash window and a door, both in rusticated surrounds. This section also has an ornamental ridge and a corniced ashlar stack that is heightened in brick. The right side mirrors the left with three similar windows.
