Description

This building is a workshop located 200 meters east of the junction of B6295 and A686, dating from the early 19th century. It was formerly a store and office for Langley Lead Smelting Mill. Constructed from rubble with tooled quoins and dressings, it features a stone slate roof and has a rectangular shape.

The west section of the building is two stories high, while the east section resembles a barn and has central cart entrances on opposite sides. The left section includes an external stone staircase beside altered 12-pane sash windows, leading to a boarded door with chamfered alternating jambs and small flanking windows. The right section has an elliptical-headed cart entrance that is now blocked, with a window inserted, and six blocked ventilation slits above. On the rear elevation, the left section has a large 20th-century opening replacing the cart entrance, while the right section features a boarded door with alternating jambs and 9-pane sash windows.

Inside, the east section has principal rafter roof trusses with collars, which display incised carpenter's marks. This workshop is the only remaining building of what was once a larger complex.
