Description
Nos. 14 and 16 Hill Street are a pair of houses, likely built in the 18th century, and later raised and remodeled in the 19th century. They are constructed of rubble with cut dressings and feature a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are two stories tall with attics and have three symmetrical bays. There is a plinth and a band at the first floor level.
The central entrance consists of a pair of seven-panel doors with plain overlights, set in corniced raised stone surrounds. Above the doors, there are paired plate-glass sash windows in raised stone surrounds. The flanking bays contain shop windows with three round-headed panes and consoles that support canted bays, which have sash windows and cornices at the first floor.
The houses have coped gables with moulded kneelers and stepped-and-corniced end stacks. On the right side, there is a gabled roof dormer featuring a four-pane sash window.
