Description
Nos 1 and 3 Princes Street are a pair of mid-18th century houses located on the west side of Princes Street in Corbridge. They are constructed from squared stone and feature a Welsh slate roof with a new brick stack. The buildings rise to three storeys and have three bays, continuing the line of the Golden Lion to the left.
The houses have a plinth and sill bands at the first and second floors. There is a central blocked yard door flanked by flush-panelled doors, each with 2-pane overlights, set in a linked raised-and-tooled stone surround. The left bay contains 16-pane Yorkshire sashes, the centre has a renewed 15-pane sash on the first floor and a 16-pane Yorkshire sash above, while the right bay features an 18-pane sash and 15-pane sashes above, all of which have been renewed. The right gable is coped with a moulded kneeler and a rebuilt stack, and the roof is hipped at the left.
