Description

Acton Cottage is a house, probably built around 1700, that was later refenestrated in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with cut quoins and dressings, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and two wide bays. The central entrance features a vertical-panelled door with a two-pane overlight, set in a hollow-chamfered surround, although the lintel was raised in the 19th century. The windows are casements with slightly projecting sills, and the lower windows have tooled lintels. There is a stepped stone end stack on the right and a rebuilt stone stack on the left. To the left, there is an adjacent lower outbuilding that has been altered and is not of interest.
