Description

This is a terrace of three houses, located at numbers 3, 5, and 7 North Street, Amble. They were built in 1837 as part of the planned development associated with the harbour, constructed by the contractors Sandersons.

The houses are built of carefully squared stone, close to ashlar quality, with a 20th-century tile roof and a brick stack. They are two storeys high and four bays wide. Numbers 3 and 5 each have round-arched doorways with renewed doors, above which are original fanlights. Number 7, on the right, has a renewed door and overlight, set within a three-centred carriage arch. The windows are mostly 12-pane sashes; those in number 3 are original, while the others have been replaced but set within the original window openings and with projecting sills. An eaves band runs along the top of the building. The roof has a hip design on the right side.

The terrace is included on the list for its group value; the attached terrace to the rear, named North View, is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.
