Description

This is a limekiln built in the mid-19th century, located approximately 800 yards south of White House Farmhouse in Capheaton. It is constructed from dressed stone and brick. The structure features an artificial mound with a screen wall to the southeast, which has three high pointed-arched openings leading to the kiln. These recesses have corbelled vaults and end in square draw holes. Inside, there is a large brick-lined pot that is shaped like an inverted cone.
