The Old Wash-house, located 10 metres north-west of Black Hedley farmhouse, is an outbuilding dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with stone dressings and features a slate roof. The building has a pent outbuilding on either side of a central flat-coped wall. The courtyard elevation to the east displays two boarded doors with stone surrounds and square-headed recesses in the set-back section to the right. Additionally, there are two boarded doors and a blocked door at the rear. This structure is included for its group value with the farmhouse.
