Description
The lodge and gate piers, located 80 metres north-east of Southside Farmhouse, date from the early 19th century. The lodge is constructed from squared tooled stone, featuring tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. The structure is one storey high and consists of two bays, with a plain door positioned left-of-centre and 12-pane sash windows, all set in raised stone surrounds. The roof is hipped and has a stepped-and-corniced ridge stack on the left side. There are 20th-century windows on the returns. The square gate piers are made of squared stone, with a plinth and banded pyramidal caps, and a short flat-coped wall to the west connects to the farm buildings. The lodge has a 20th-century rear extension that is not of interest. This building is included for its group value.
