Description
The High Kiln with attached gift shop at Hetherslaw Mill is a former corn-drying kiln dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The structure is built of rubble with some areas patched with old brick and features a pantiled roof.
On the right side, the kiln has a boarded door on the ground floor, while the left side has boarded double doors leading to storage. The building has a gabled roof with flat coping, and the left gable displays tumbled-in brickwork along with a wooden dovecote screen.
At the rear, there is a first-floor entry to the drying chamber of the kiln, which includes a boarded door surrounded by an alternating-block design in a gabled half dormer. Inside the kiln, iron beams support the former drying floor.
