Description
The outbuildings, including Rose Cottage, are located about 2 yards to the northwest of Park End. These linked structures consist of a house, stables, a coach house, and farm buildings, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The ranges surrounding the farmyard to the north are from this earlier period, while the adjoining ranges around the stable yard to the south were built around 1830. The buildings are constructed of squared rubble with dressings, and the ranges facing the stable yard feature tooled-and-margined dressed masonry in narrow courses. They are topped with Welsh slate roofs, and the house has dressed stone chimneys.
The two-storey ranges around the farmyard include a three-bay west range with two segmental arches and a lean-to stone shed. The north range has eight segmental arches, most of which are blocked, along with square window openings above. The east range features two very tall arches with paired boarded doors. The outer faces of the west range include an external stone stair, while the east range incorporates a two-bay house, Rose Cottage, at the northeast corner. This house has replaced windows and a door, and its roofs are hipped over the returns. Rose Cottage also has two ridge stacks.
The ranges around the stable yard are situated on a sloping site and include single-storey west and north ranges, as well as a two-storey east range that continues from the east range of the farmyard. Facing the yard, there are boarded doors and horizontal-sliding sashes in chamfered surrounds with alternating jambs, along with two large 20th-century garage openings on the north range. The outer faces of the east range feature a canted south return, boarded doors, and scattered breathers on the rear. These buildings are included for their group value.
