Description
West Wylam Bridge is a disused railway bridge built in 1876 by William George Laws for the North-Eastern Railway Company. It is constructed from wrought iron and features a long single span with the roadway suspended from two parabolic arches. This bridge is noted for being the earliest use of this type of construction to support a railway. It was built as part of the Scotswood, Newburn and Wylam Railway.
