Description
Swarland Village Hall is a village hall built in 1936 by M.P. Reavell for the Fountains Abbey Settlers Society. The building features a timber frame with cedar weatherboarding on a rendered brick plinth and has a tiled roof with a waterproof coating. The front, which faces the street, has boarded double doors with sidelights beneath a bracketed hood, and a triple window above. The roof is hipped. The right side of the building has a 7-bay design with flush-panelled double doors near the center and boarded double doors at the right end. There are large windows set high in the wall, except for the left end bay, which has three small windows on each floor. The left side is similar in design. The hall is included for its historic interest as part of the original development by the Fountains Abbey Settlers Society. The attached Swarland Village Club building has been altered and is not of special interest.
