Description
Errington Farmhouse is a house likely built in the late 17th century and remodeled in 1704, as indicated by a dated sundial. It features an east extension and a rear wing that connects to another 17th-century range, added around 1800. The building is constructed of rubble with large, roughly-shaped quoins in the 17th-century section, and has cut dressings. It has a Welsh slate roof and one brick chimney stack.
The south elevation has two storeys and consists of five plus one bays. The original five-bay section includes a central flush-panelled door framed by a moulded surround topped with a swan-neck pediment, and 12-pane sash windows (some of which have been replaced) set in raised stone surrounds with moulded sills. The east bay features similar windows but in simpler surrounds. The building has coped gables, end stacks (the left one has been rebuilt in brick), and one ridge stack.
To the left, there is an attached flat-coped garden wall that includes a doorway with a raised alternating-block surround; the lower parts of the wall are not of special interest. The left return shows 16-pane sashes in the rear wing, and to the left is a projecting gable end of a one-storey wing that has a 19th-century pent porch and a 6-pane sash window. Similar windows are found in the rear elevation of the one-storey wing, which also has an old blocked chamfered doorway.
Inside, there is a staircase from around 1800 featuring stick balusters and a moulded handrail. An earlier understair cupboard has a door with H hinges. The one-storey wing at the rear has walls that are 0.85 metres thick.
