Description
The limekilns, located on the south side of the old railway at Cocklaw Mills, date from the later 19th century. They are constructed from rough-faced stone with rock-faced dressings, along with brick and cast iron elements. The tall front wall features a flat coping and a band above two pairs of segment-headed drawing arches. The wall is toothed on the left side, indicating plans for an additional kiln. The right return also has a similar coping. The eyes of the structure contain twin openings made of iron plate, set within brickwork framed by iron. Inside, there are two segmental-ended pots that are lined with brick.
