Description
Bellasies Bridge, which crosses the River Blyth, is a bridge likely dating from the 16th or 17th century, with its parapet rebuilt in the 18th century. It is constructed of squared stone and features a hogback design. The bridge has a double-chamfered segmental arch, along with a smaller unchamfered flood arch on the south side. Between the arches, there is a triangular cutwater that extends upwards as a refuge on the west side, and a shallow rectangular refuge on the east side. The parapet has chamfered coping and is splayed out at both ends. The bridge is also designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
