Description
The building is a former southern classroom block of Ninebanks School, dating from around 1845. It was converted into a headmaster's house in the late 19th century, with a first floor added at that time. The structure is built of rubble with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It is one and a half storeys tall, featuring three bays and a right-side entrance porch.
The central entrance consists of a tall boarded door with a four-pane overlight, set within alternating jambs and enclosed by a 20th-century glazed porch. On either side of the entrance are renewed 16-pane sash windows, which have tooled and margined lintels and sills. The end bays include first-floor renewed 16-pane sashes located in hipped half-dormers. The right gable is coped with kneelers and supports a stepped stone corniced stack with conjoined shafts.
The porch features a boarded door with alternating tooled and moulded jambs, and it also has a coped right gable with moulded kneelers. The rear elevation displays similar window arrangements. This building is included for its group value with Allen View and Hillside.
