Description

The gatepiers at West Lodge to Capheaton Hall were built in 1668 by Robert Trollope. They are made of ashlar and feature tall, square piers topped with cornices. The piers are elaborately carved with panels depicting cornucopia, trophies of arms, and masks representing tragedy and comedy. Additionally, the friezes are adorned with carvings of swags and scrolls, and each pier is finished with a ball finial.
