Description

The weir on Netherton Burn, located approximately 250 yards southeast of Netherton, dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of dressed stone. It features a central weir that stands about 7 feet high, with each course of stonework slightly offset.

On the right side, there is a sluice gate that retains its original winding mechanism. To the extreme right, a curving retaining wall with flat coping can be found. On the left, an overflow channel extends about 25 yards in length, displaying an S-curve in its plan. This channel has a dressed-stone invert that steps down, with side walls also featuring flat coping.
