Description

This is a milepost located 60 metres south of the entrance to High Learchild, likely dating from the early 20th century and produced by Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is made of cast iron and painted white with black figures. The milepost features a shield-shaped plaque that displays the distances to Cornhill (26 miles) and Morpeth (18 miles), set on a circular shaft. Additionally, there is a lower rectangular plate indicating the distance to Wooler (13 miles). The overall height of the milepost is 0.6 metres.
