Description

This building is a workshop located approximately 70 yards southeast of Cheswick Old School. It dates back to the 17th century and has been extensively altered since then. The structure is built from rubble with stone dressings and features a corrugated iron roof. It has a hearth-passage plan and is a single-storey building with irregular openings.

The almost-central doorway has a 17th-century chamfered surround. There are two windows typical of blacksmith shops and boarded double doors. The roof is gabled and includes a ridge stack. At the rear, there is a blocked doorway that mirrors the hearth-passage doorway, featuring a chamfered surround and a Tudor-arched lintel. Additionally, there are four blacksmith-type windows and a small fire window.
