Harwood Shield Farmhouse

Harwood Shield Farmhouse is a house from the early 19th century, likely incorporating some earlier materials. It is built of stone, mostly rendered, and has a roof made of large blue slates. The south elevation features two storeys and four bays, arranged irregularly. The left three bays include a central porch with cut quoins and a coped gable, featuring a flush-panelled door with a plain overlight set in an alternating-block surround. Above the porch is a small margined casement, with flanking bays that have 16-pane and 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, the latter located on the right. The right one-bay section is set forward with a double thickness wall and has 16-pane sashes in flat-arched splayed surrounds. The house has end stacks and one ridge stack. Inside, there is a staircase with closed strings and stick balusters, along with six-panel doors.
