Description

NT 93 SE EWART EWART PARK

4/58 Carriage entry and attached stores c.40 yards east of Ewart Park GV II

Carriage entry and stores, possibly former stable. Late C18. Store rooms extended and altered mid Cl9. Brick, partly rendered and partly painted. Pantiled roofs and wood cupola.

Segmental archway with stone key. Pediment over with moulded cornice and blank roundel. Roof has 4 cross gables and hexagonal cupola with Tuscan columns, moulded cornice and domed roof. Within archway are 2 pointed-arched doorways with closely-studded Gothick oak doors. Wooden barrel-vaulted ceiling.

Single-storey stores attached to left in 2 sections. Right section has two C19 2-light double-chamfered windows and a left gable with higher castellated screen wall attached.

Left section, probably later, is built against other side of screen wall. 2 similar windows. Hipped roof on left.

Empty and partly derelict at time of survey.
