Description

The carriage entry and attached stores, located about 40 yards east of Ewart Park, date from the late 18th century and may have originally served as a stable. The store rooms were extended and altered in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of brick, with some areas rendered and others painted, topped with pantiled roofs and a wooden cupola.

The structure features a segmental archway with a stone key, above which is a pediment adorned with a moulded cornice and a blank roundel. The roof is designed with four cross gables and a hexagonal cupola supported by Tuscan columns, featuring a moulded cornice and a domed roof. Inside the archway, there are two pointed-arched doorways fitted with closely-studded Gothick oak doors, and the ceiling is barrel-vaulted.

To the left of the carriage entry are single-storey stores divided into two sections. The right section includes two 19th-century two-light double-chamfered windows and a left gable that has a higher castellated screen wall attached. The left section, likely built later, is positioned against the opposite side of the screen wall and also features two similar windows. This section has a hipped roof on the left. At the time of the survey, the building was empty and partly derelict.
