Description
The stable block, which includes two cottages, is located next to Barmoor Castle and was likely built in 1801 by Patterson of Edinburgh. It features hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof.
The building is a single range divided into three sections that are set at obtuse angles to one another and stands two storeys high. The slightly taller section on the left contains a two-bay cottage with a four-panelled door and overlight, along with four-pane sash windows. Adjacent to this is the coach house, which has one set of double doors that remain, while the other set is blocked; both sets feature blind fanlights of the Diocletian window type.
The middle section serves as the stables and consists of five bays, featuring two doors with overlights and three 16-pane sash windows. Above, there are five smaller pitching holes for the granary. The left section is another cottage, which is one bay wide and has four-pane sash windows, with a door located in a 20th-century porch on the right return. The roof is hipped.
