Description
The White House, dated 1728, is a house that has been altered in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble and features a pantiled roof with brick chimneys. The building has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys high with three bays. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set within a chamfered surround from the 18th century. The ground-floor windows are 16-pane sashes, also in chamfered surrounds, while the upper floor has smaller 12-pane sashes. To the left of the door, there is a blocked mullioned window.
The house has a steeply-pitched gabled roof with thin raised coping and reverse-stepped gables, along with 19th-century end stacks. Attached to the left side is a short stretch of castellated walling that includes a pointed-arched doorway.
Inside, the house features old beams, panelled shutters, and an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters.
