Description
This limekiln, located on the west side of the road 190 metres south of Thornbrough Kiln House, likely dates from the early 19th century and was remodeled in the later 19th century. It is constructed from rubble and has a rectangular plan. The structure features three segmental drawing arches that are corbelled down to pairs of segmental-arched openings, which are framed with brick voussoirs and hold iron frames and hinges for the furnace doors. To the left, there is a boarded door beneath a timber lintel that leads into a barrel-vaulted chamber. The pot was inaccessible during the survey due to dumped silage.
