Description

The Sutton memorial, located approximately 25 yards south-west of the Church of St. Mary, is a churchyard memorial dating from 1740, possibly dedicated to Edward Sutton. It is made of sandstone and features a marble tablet along with iron railings. The memorial is designed as a large aedicule supported by two pairs of Tuscan columns, topped with a moulded cornice and an ogival-domed roof that has an urn finial. The Latin inscription on the memorial is worn. The iron railings include standards with enriched cross heads and principals that also have urn finials.
