Description
The village cross, sundial, and railings in Holy Island's Market Place were rebuilt in 1828 by H.C. Selby. The structure is made of sandstone and features wrought-iron railings. The cross stands on a plinth of four square steps and has a wheel-head design on a tapering square shaft that is approximately 10 feet high, with roll-moulded edges. There is an 18th-century sundial with a baluster stem and a bronze gnomon located on the north-west corner of the base. The entire area is surrounded by a low stone wall and railings with spearhead standards.
