Description

Low Barns, a building of early 19th-century origin, is situated near Hexham as part of Westwood Farm. Originally listed as a millhouse and granary, it comprises a two-story barn with two doorways and three windows, constructed from coursed rubble with quoins. The roof is covered in stone slate. At the rear (west) is an attached two-story shed, linking to a taller, 18th-century granary. The granary has four windows and dove holes along the eaves, and a Westmoreland slate roof. The west end features four brick-quoined segmental arches that form an opening into a later cow cover with a corrugated iron roof.
