Description

This limekiln, located south of Kiln Plantation and 700 metres southeast of Rock Midstead, likely dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from roughly-coursed rubble and brick, featuring cut quoins and dressings. The kiln has a nine-sided plan with a charging ramp on the east side. It includes three round-headed drawing arches that corbel down to a segmental stone arch, which supports a brick wall with twin round-arched openings. This structure is an unusually well-preserved example of a solitary lime kiln.
