Description
This is a bridge over the River Pont, built in the early 19th century, possibly by the architect Rickman. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a single segmental arch that is framed by a hollow-chamfered arch band. The bridge has a pierced parapet decorated with roll-moulded diamond shapes set within square surrounds that have roll-moulded edges. The design includes ridge coping and square end piers, which are flanked by concave walls that also end in similar piers. The bridge is located approximately 300 yards south-west of Matfen Hall.
