Description

This is a row of four buildings dating to approximately 1826, situated on the south-west side of Hallgate. The buildings consist of three and two storeys, originally presenting two, one, and two windows respectively. They are constructed of brick with stone lintels and cills, featuring glazing bar sash windows with exposed boxes. The doorcases are distinguished by slim pilasters and hoods. The front doors are panelled, with six panels each. Numbers 26 and 27 include a basement and a through passage door to the left. Numbers 28 and 29 have a differing construction, presenting a double-fronted appearance with steps leading to the main entrances, and a three-part rectangular window above the door. Numbers 26 to 29, together with the archway to the east of number 25, the Old Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Bankhead, and Wentworth Place numbers 1 to 4, are designated as a group of buildings of group value.
