Description

The crenellated retaining wall to the east of the Old Grammar School was built in the mid to late 19th century. It features a curved design made of ashlar stone and has crenellation that begins at a round arched gateway located opposite the southeast corner of the Old Grammar School. The wall extends up to Hallgate, where it ends in a capped pier. The height of the wall is approximately 4 to 5 feet on the northern side.
