Description
Nos. 2-5 Front Row is a terrace of cottages built around 1740 as single-storey thatched cottages, which were later remodeled and heightened around 1818. The cottages are constructed of squared stone, with the first floor featuring tooled stone and dressed details, and they have slate roofs. The building stands two storeys high, with each cottage having three irregular bays. The doors are boarded and have three-pane overlights, all except No. 2 set in chamfered surrounds. The windows are Yorkshire sashes without glazing bars, featuring slightly projecting sills, with tooled and margined lintels and sills. There is a similar dressed entry for a 19th-century through-passage at the right end of the terrace. The roof is adorned with five stepped and corniced ridge stacks that have conjoined shafts.
