Description

This is a churchyard memorial dedicated to Dorothy Heslop, located about 10 yards south of the Church of St. Mary. It was erected in 1793 and is made of sandstone. The memorial features an arched top with a cherub's head positioned between scrolls, and the edges are framed with leaf carvings. The inscription includes two verses that reflect on her life and her husband's, who passed away in 1822. The first verse speaks of her spiritual nature and detachment from earthly vanities, while the second verse notes that her husband will rest in the grave until the resurrection.
