Description

No. 1 Bailiffgate is an early 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The front is made of ashlar stone, featuring raised quoins and dressings, while the ground floor is rendered. It has a plinth and a slate roof with gable end chimneys and kneelers at the raised verges. The building is equipped with a moulded cast iron gutter. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with single hung windows on the second floor and plate glass sashes on the ground floor. Both the windows and the door are adorned with moulded architraves. Access to the doorway, which is off-centre to the right, is via steps with curved rails. The door itself is an eight-panel design, with the top two panels cut away and glazed.
