Description
1 and 2 Pottergate and 5 Northumberland Street are two-storey buildings dating from around 1830 to 1840. They feature four windows, along with two lower recessed one-window wings. The buildings are constructed of ashlar stone and have cill bands on both the ground and first floors that extend to the side wings, as well as a moulded eaves cornice. The roofs are covered with slate and there are four ashlar chimneys, with coped gables that include footstones. The windows are late glazed sash style with simple architraves. The doorway of No 2 is distinguished by a shallow pediment with antefixae on pilasters, leading to a six-panel door. The gable end of the wing for No 5 has two round-headed windows and a door similar to that of No 2 on the side. There are lean-to extensions on the north side. In the garden to the north of No 5, there is a classical-style urn with a godroon rim and lion's masks.
