Description

Ogle House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with late 18th-century refenestration, an early 19th-century rear extension, and alterations including a carriage entrance around 1880. The building is constructed of squared stone with roughly-tooled quoins and tooled dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and four bays. On the right side, there is a segmental carriage arch, and the windows are 4-pane sashes set in raised stone surrounds with narrow chamfers. There are traces of earlier windows and an original doorway in the third bay. The roof is steeply pitched with coped gables on moulded kneelers and stepped-and-banded end stacks. The rear elevation features an arched stair window with a 12-pane sash that has a radial head. There is a wing to the rear left, divided into two parts: the inner section has 4-pane sashes in alternating-block surrounds, while the lower end part displays early 18th-century masonry and a contemporary doorway with a heavy lintel and slightly-inclined jambs.

Inside, the carriage entrance has corbelling that supports the upper part of a stack truncated around 1880, along with a re-set doorway from the front, which features a 4-panel door with a 2-pane fanlight beneath an archivolt with imposts and a moulded keystone. The early 19th-century stair has stick balusters and is located against the rear wall.
