Description

This 19th-century limekiln is located on the east bank of Slatequarry Cleugh. It is constructed from coursed rubble and brick, featuring a trapezoidal plan with two elliptical drawing arches. Each arch is supported by corbelled brickwork that leads down to a pair of square-headed openings, which are separated by a brick pilaster. The structure has rough coping on top and a raking buttress to the right. Inside, there is an oval pot lined with brick.
