Description
This limekiln, likely built in the mid 19th century, is located 170 metres south of Keenley Thorn Farmhouse in a disused quarry. Constructed from squared rubble and brick, it features twin segmental-headed drawing arches. Each arch is supported by corbelled elements leading down to a pair of eyes, with one of each pair having a segmental brick arch and the other a lintel. The front wall is coped and ramps down where the returns splay out before turning in again to flank a charging ramp. The kiln has an oval pot and is a well-preserved example of a double kiln with a charging ramp in a limestone quarry.
