Description
Driftwood Lodge is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of squared stone and has a Welsh slate roof. The street front presents a two-storey, three-bay facade with a further three bays to the right. Windows in the right-hand end bay are now blocked. Other windows are 12-pane sashes, some of which have been renewed, with those in bays 2, 3, and 5 set within blocked doorways. The gables have coping, and there are corniced end and ridge stacks. The left return displays renewed 12-pane sashes on the ground floor, and an old 12-pane fixed window to the attic. A rear door is also present. The house was associated with the Gallon family, who owned much of Alnmouth in the 18th century. A wing to the rear left has been heavily altered and is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.
