Description
The range of farm buildings located south-west of Hartburn Grange Farmhouse dates from the 18th century, with heightening in the early 19th century, while other buildings on the site are from various early 19th century dates. The structures are built of squared tooled stone with dressings, with some parts tooled and margined from the 19th century. The granary roof is covered with stone slate, while other roofs are slate.
The long range of buildings connects to a cartshed to the north, adjacent to the farmhouse. A shorter hemmel block extends west from the south end of the range. On the east elevation, the two-storey barn features a boarded door set in a chamfered alternating-block surround, with 20th-century double doors to the right. To the right of the barn is a two-storey granary block divided into two sections: the left section has three bays with two stable doors, both with alternating-block surrounds, and slit vents; the slightly earlier right section has an arcade of three segmental-headed arches and a cart entrance with a timber lintel, along with small windows on the first floor of both sections.
On the left return, to the left of the gable end of the barn, there are single-storey hemmels that have two arcades, each consisting of three segmental-headed arches, flanking a central blocked cart entrance with a timber lintel. The rear elevation features a stone ramp leading up to a partly-blocked first-floor door in the barn, and a stone external stair leading up to a boarded door into the granary.
