Description
Southwitton House is an 18th-century house that was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed from squared and tooled stone, featuring tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, with rubble at the rear and a slate roof. The main section is two storeys high and has three slightly irregular bays. There are central double doors beneath a six-pane overlight, and 16-pane sash windows with slightly projecting sills; all openings are framed in deeply-chamfered surrounds. The house has coped gables and stepped ashlar stacks. To the left, there is a lower section that is also two storeys but has only one bay, featuring a boarded door in a chamfered surround, with a late 19th-century sash window to the left and a similar window above. The left section also has a coped gable. At the time of the survey, the house was empty and in a dilapidated condition.
