CAPHEATON SHAFTOE Stable and farmbuildings approx 25 yards south-east of East Shaftoe Hall

GV II

Stables, byres and granary Early C19. Dressed stone with tiled roof. T-plan. 2-storey front range, 3-storey rear range.

Front range: stables with granary over. Long blank wall with boarded door on right. On right return a large C13 grave cover from former Shaftoe Church. It has shield, spear and sword to right and tall cross to left, traces of heraldic ornament on shield.

Rear range: starting 2 storeys and becoming 3 storeys with lie of land. 3 elliptical arches on ground floor; slatted windows over. Hipped roof.
